Research Centre

The Covenant Health Research Centre (CHRC) formally commenced operations in March 2003.  Prior to that research was performed independently at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Edmonton General Continuing Care Centre and Misericordia Community Hospital.  Since 2008, the CHRC has provided research services to all Covenant Health sites.

The CHRC is dedicated to promoting innovation, facilitating inquiry, developing partnerships, and integrating research into practice in alignment with Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision, Values and strategic directions.

The CHRC strategic focus is on:

  • Vulnerable Populations, including Addictions and Mental Health Services, Seniors Health, Rural Health, as well as Palliative and End of Life Care;
  • Developing Trans-disciplinary teams; and
  • Supporting New Researchers.

Since inaugural operations in 2003 and as at the end of the 2014/2015 fiscal year, the CHRC has reviewed more than 1073 research studies, has secured operational/administrative approval for 912 studies and awarded 102 research grants representing over $358,000 in funding.
