Jon Popowich

Chief Quality & Privacy Officer

Jon currently leads Covenant Health’s quality portfolio, which includes the strategies and operations for quality and patient safety, process improvement, patient relations, health information management, strategic analytics, infection prevention and control, policies and procedures, information access and privacy, professional practice, clinical learning, student placement and libraries . He has held administrative and leadership positions in quality, governance and strategic planning with Caritas Health Group and Covenant Health since 1989. He has also been active in ethics consultation and teaching internally and externally. 

Jon’s education includes business studies at the University of Alberta, and a post-graduate degree in management from the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Leicester. He holds certificates in Catholic Leadership, ISO9000 internal audit, and business process redesign.  He has served the community in a variety of capacities, including board chair of the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton. In addition to his passion for quality and patient safety, Jon is a published outdoor writer, climber and avid photographer.

Covenant Health would like to acknowledge that what we refer to as Alberta is the traditional ancestral territory of a diversity of Indigenous peoples and home to Treaty 6, 7, and 8. We are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are still with us today and those who have gone before us. We make this acknowledgement as an act of reconciliation and gratitude to those whose territory we reside on or are visiting.
