Palliative Care

Covenant Health’s Acute Tertiary Palliative Care Unit at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital is a world-class interdisciplinary program that attracts practitioners, students and researchers from around the world.

Unit 43 is an intensive 23-bed Palliative Care Unit. Patients are directly admitted to the unit via referrals from the consultant teams within the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program. Patients come from acute care and home for management of their acute physical and psychosocial end-of-life symptoms and challenges that cannot be managed elsewhere. Discharge planning starts on day one as this is a short stay program.

Our team is made up of a specially trained personnel who support patients and their families.

Families are welcome to visit the unit 24/7.
