Legacy Day
Covenant Health was formed on November 27, 2008, and we now celebrate Legacy Day on November 27 each year to honour our heritage and recognize the contributions of our founding Sisters. The hard work and compassionate ministry of these women helped expand health care in Alberta, and Covenant Health carries on that legacy of Catholic health care in the communities we serve. The Sisters’ values of courage, drive, determination and compassion continue to inform our work today.
A legacy of service
Covenant Health gathered with the Catholic community on September 28, 2011 to honour the legacy of the Catholic Sisters in Alberta. Premier Ed Stelmach unveiled a monument to recognize the contributions of the Sisters who touched the lives of so many Albertans.
Service through Christ is the name of the monument that honours the Catholic Sisters’ legacy of care and compassion carried on by others today. Together, Bishop David Motiuk and Archbishop Richard Smith blessed the monument that bears the names of 74 congregations who were founders of health care, education and social services in Alberta.
