This week's reflection

Fortunately, just as fear can be infectious, so hope is infectious. When individuals and families and communities, or even nations, come together around new found hope... that new momentum can be unstoppable. The smile replaces the frown. Conversation replaces silence. Fear of the future is replaced by confidence to respond to its challenges.

Covenant Health Palliative Institute

The Palliative Institute is committed to alleviating suffering for patients and their families by supporting excellence in palliative and end-of-life care.

Covenant Health launched the Palliative Institute in October 2012, envisioning a future where every Albertan can make informed choices about their palliative and end-of-life care and where caregivers have the knowledge, expertise and resources to support them. It is the Institute`s role to serve as a knowledge broker and problem solver for patients and families, clinicians, policy makers, caregivers and researchers; and to lead informed public conversation about palliative and end-of-life issues.

What is palliative care?

Palliative care aims to improve the quality of life of patients and their families who are faced with a life-threatening illness.
