Visiting hours

Hospital visiting hours are between 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Visitors are welcome to visit patients on the units. During the assessment period, the patient may be off the unit for tests or programs, so we recommend visitors call ahead when planning a visit. We ask that children be supervised by an adult but fully encourage involvement of families

Chapel

The chapel is located on the main floor and is available for quiet reflection and prayer. Service times are posted at the door.

Pet visits

Family pets are allowed to visit Villa Caritas if the care team has approved the visit. Families who wish to bring pets for visits will be asked to complete paperwork and provide copies of the pet’s current vet records. Please keep pets on a leash at all times.

Public Washrooms

Public washrooms are located in the main foyer, and keys for these will be provided by staff at the information desk. Each nursing unit also has one designated public washroom.

Nearby Amenities at Misericordia Hospital

Located nearby, Misericordia Hospital has several amenities not available at Villa Caritas. These amenities include:

  • The Garden Cafeteria/Tim Hortons/Vending Machines
  • Flower Shop
  • Gift Shop

For more information on these amenities please view the Misericordia Hospital webpage

Interpretive services

Interpretive services are available to help patients and families communicate with care providers when language barriers exist. Please speak to your care provider to access these services.

Smoke-Free property

Since Covenant Health is a smoke-free organization, patients and visitors cannot smoke on the property. However, we do have options for patients who smoke that can keep them comfortable during their stays. Please ask a member of your care team about nicotine replacement therapy.

To report someone smoking on hospital property, please contact Protective Services at 780.342.6540. Our Community Peace Officers will be on site to help us maintain a smoke-free environment.

Stop the spread of germs

  • For the safety of our patients, we encourage you to clean your hands when you visit. See A Guide to Clean Hands for information on protecting yourself and your loved ones.
  • If you are sick, please wait and visit your loved one when you are feeling better. If you must visit and you are coughing or sneezing, consider wearing a mask to protect your loved one.
  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, and then discard the tissue. If you do not have a tissue, sneeze or cough into your upper sleeve or elbow.
  • Clean your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer, especially after coughing or sneezing.
