This week's reflection

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.

Why work at Covenant Health

Covenant Health is very proud to be recognized as one of Alberta’s Top Employers. We offer a supportive, fulfilling workplace where our people can flourish and find their calling.

It's different here. Covenant Health is an organization built on passion, perseverance, faith and hope—a rich and enduring 150-year legacy. The Mission, Vision, and Values of Covenant Health are at the core of what attracts people to our organization, and our people are our difference.

Our people model Covenant Health’s Mission, Vision and Values in all that they do. Whether at the bedside, addressing infrastructure, capital planning, or needs in the community, our teams are committed to serving with compassion and integrity.

Covenant Health is one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures and is a designated Canadian Compassionate Company.

Training & development

Covenant Health is committed to continuous learning and professional development for all employees; this growth is facilitated through the Staff Education Fund, our online learning environment and numerous in-person development workshops and sessions.

Over 216 employees have reached their education goals through the Staff Education Fund, with 272 currently working towards their programs.

The health and well-being of our people is a top priority for us. We are proud to support our teams in their calling to serve through dedicated resources. Some of the resources we have in place include:

• Employee & Family Assistance Program
• Workplace Abuse & Harassment Program
• Mental Health First Aid
• Personal Health Resources
• Attendance Support Program

We use the voluntary Accreditation process to improve our services and ensure we provide the best care possible to those we serve. Since our first accreditation survey in 2010, Covenant Health has consistently received outstanding results. In 2016 we met all of the Required Organization Practices and achieved an overall rating of 98% compliance.

Surveyors saw our staff demonstrate their commitment to our values, pride in their work and observed that employee input is valued. They also saw patient and family centered care principles evident in all aspects of the organization.

Work satisfaction and how people feel at work is important to us. Every two years, Gallup Consulting, a world leader in employee engagement, distributes an Engagement Survey to our employees. This survey helps us to learn more about what motivates our teams at work and captures their ideas for building action plans to build on our fantastic workplace.
