Undergraduate Nursing Employees (UNE)

Eligibility requirements:

  • Candidates must be currently enrolled in an accredited Baccalaureate or Psychiatric Nursing Education Program from a recognized post secondary institution
  • Candidates must have completed a minimum of 450 clinical hours of practice.   Documentation of current and on-going enrollment, and number of clinical hours completed is required from your Faculty of Nursing
  • Heart & Stroke Foundation BLS (Level C) Healthcare Provider
  • Additional qualifications may be required for a specific unit or program

Continued employment requires that the UNE remain enrolled as a registered student in an approved nursing education program leading to graduation.

Careers: The Next Generation (CTNG)

This six-week internship program offers high school students the opportunity to gain insight and understanding into the various health careers available through partnerships between healthcare providers and secondary educational institutions. For details, visit Careers: The Next Generation.

Take Our Kids To Work Day

Covenant Health is proud to be a registered employer in the Learning Partnership’s National Take Our Kids to WorkTM program! This program provides a wonderful opportunity for Grade 9 students to job shadow their parents or a parent-host for the day.

New graduates

Applying at Covenant Health

Graduate nurses who apply for any posted registered nurse or registered psychiatric nurse job opening within Covenant Health must meet the following requirements:

  • Recent graduate of a baccalaureate or diploma in nursing, or completion of an approved nursing refresher course
  • Currently hold or be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) or with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA)
  • Current Heart & Stroke Foundation—BLS (Level C) Healthcare Provider
