Palliative Care
The Palliative Care Program at Bonnyville Health Centre combines the technical care of a medical-surgical unit and compassionate care offer within a hospice. Palliative Care is focused on managing symptoms of an illness when cure is no longer possible.
Our Palliative Care Program is delivered on the second floor of the Bonnyville Health Centre and consists of two large suites. The environment is structured for the comfort of both the patient and family members. Facilities include a private kitchen, quiet room and a hallway servicing only the suites separate from the other inpatient areas.
Our Services Include:
- Private rooms covered by the Alberta Health Insurance Plan
- Flexible visiting hours
- Pull out beds available in each suite for family and visitors
- Educational resources offered free of charge
- Pets are welcome to visit as per the Covenant Health policy
- Spiritual Care Chaplain
- Aboriginal Liaison
- Specialized palliative care education provided to staff
- On-site chapel
- Open communication with the interdisciplinary team is encouraged

Your healthcare practitioner can contact Bonnyville Health Centre to arrange an admission under the care of our local physicians or hospitalist team.
Tours of the unit are encouraged so patients and families can see the facility and have an opportunity to talk with our staff to answer any questions about Palliative Care.
