24-hour emergency
The Banff Mineral Springs Hospital Emergency Department provides care for patients with major trauma, cardiac events, injuries and general medical conditions. Approximately 35% of all patient visits to the ED are related to sport and recreational injuries. Of these, approximately 70% are skiers and snowboarders. 80% of all emergency department patients are adults between the ages of 17 and 64. Our Emergency Department is staffed by dedicated emergency physicians with advanced training in emergency medicine.
The hospital, particularly the Emergency Department, acts as a rural learning centre for residents in emergency medicine and nursing as well as Primary Care Paramedic and Advanced Care Paramedic students.
