Library services
Library Services connects Covenant Health staff and physicians with high-quality information to support evidence-based decision-making, policy development, excellence in care, and innovation.
We have two site libraries—the Grey Nuns Health Sciences Library and the Misericordia Weinlos Library. Through these libraries, we provide physicians and staff at all Covenant Health facilities with access to books, journals, audiovisuals, databases and electronic resources covering a wide range of topics in medicine, nursing and allied health.
Covenant Health Library Services partners with the Alberta Health Services Knowledge Resource Service to support health information needs across the province. The Knowledge Resource Service website offers an extensive array of databases, ebooks, journals, subject guides, patient resources and education guides.
Covenant Health staff and physicians should consult the Library Services page on the CompassionNet intranet for more information about the range of services available to them.

Borrowing materials
Library Services is a member of the NEOS Library Consortium - a cooperative library consortium consisting of hospital, government, college and university libraries across Alberta that collaborate to share resources. Library collections are listed in the NEOS Library Catalogue.
All Covenant Health staff and physicians are eligible to obtain a Covenant Health NEOS library card. Covenant Health volunteers may be eligible for a NEOS external card. Please contact the Grey Nuns or Misericordia library to apply for a card. As part of the NEOS Library Consortium, Covenant Health cardholders can borrow materials from any NEOS member library. Cardholders from other NEOS member libraries can also borrow materials, pick up holds, and return materials at our libraries.
Most materials may be borrowed for four weeks. Journals and reference books do not circulate. Four renewals are permitted unless another hold request or a recall has been placed on the item.
Patients, families and members of the public are welcome to use materials onsite in either library. Covenant Health Library Services does not issue TAL cards, but will lend materials to TAL cardholders who are registered with other NEOS libraries.
Interlibrary loans
Covenant Health Library Services operates an interlibrary loan service to obtain journal articles and other materials for Covenant Health staff and physicians from libraries across the Edmonton region, NEOS Library Consortium, and DOCLINE.
