Celebrate World Prematurity Day with Santa at Grey Nuns Hospital

Media are invited to a celebration of the 7th annual World Prematurity Day in Edmonton at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. Santa Claus will be making an early appearance, just like the babies did. He will be handing out gifts to families and their premature babies born in 2017 at the Grey Nuns Hospital.

Date: Friday, November 17, 2017

Time: 12:00 sharp – Santa will arrive at 12:30 p.m. to hand out presents to families

Location: Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Grey Nuns Rehabilitation Gym,
Room 1112 (main floor) - 1100 Youville Drive West, Edmonton, Alberta

Interviews will be available with:

  • Parents of premature babies
  • Valerie Harrison, Program Manager, NICU and Child Health Clinics
  • Mark Lansing, Unit Manager, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Grey Nuns Hospital
  • Dr. Manoj Kumar, Neonatal-Perinatal Care (NICU)

During the media event, you can park for free in public parking if you have a marked vehicle or signage in your window. Once in the hospital, a communications representative will meet you in the lobby. If you arrive after 12:00, follow signage to Room 1112 for the event.

From November 1, 2016 - October 31, 2017, there were 9,088 babies delivered at the Grey Nuns and Misericordia Community Hospitals, with 833 being admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery during this time period, either due to prematurity or medical complications.
