Covenant Health
This week's reflection

This week's reflection

I am even more deeply pleased if it has helped to encourage the young people that have followed our generation to express their pride in our heritage more openly, more joyfully than I would have ever dared to think possible.

Pat yourself on the back and then turn to a colleague and do the same. Covenant Health has received two important employer awards. We have been named as one of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures by Waterstone Human Capital and we are, once again, on the list of Alberta’s Top 70 Employers.

President and CEO Patrick Dumelie attributes these successes to the people who work for Covenant Health. “Our mission and our people are our greatest strengths,” says Dumelie. “Our staff sees our call to mission as a very positive asset in their day and in the care experience of those we serve. I know that those who haven't experienced this may be a bit skeptical but our mission and values permeate the work environment.”

Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures is a national award which has recognized Covenant Health for creating a work environment where people are empowered to be innovative problem-solvers and a culture that values the delivery of exceptional care for patients and residents. “We get the chance to work side-by-side with colleagues and leaders who are at the top of their game,” adds Dumelie. “People who bring their whole self to work every day. It makes for a tremendously rewarding career.”

Alberta’s Top 70 Employer Award recognizes companies on such criteria as compensation and benefits – which range from competitive salaries, attractive health benefits and a wellness fund to staff libraries, and onsite gyms to our staff education fund and frontline leadership opportunities – work atmosphere and community involvement. But Dumelie believes our employee’s engagement with our mission is Covenant Health’s secret ingredient “We often hear that working for Covenant Health feels like family. This is something we are very proud of, considering we are Canada’s largest Catholic health care organization.”

Covenant Health company profiles can be found in inserts in today’s Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald and National Post. A full listing of award winners is available on the Waterstone Human Capital and Canada’s Top 100 Employer websites.

Covenant Health teams help make the whole health care system stronger for all Albertans. From hospital care to seniors care to primary care Covenant Health staff and physicians continue to develop solutions that address emerging needs or gaps and pressures in the system. It is this spirit and dedication that has earned these awards.
