Recreation Therapy

The Recreation Therapy team consists of recreation therapists and recreation therapy assistants. Recreation therapists are health professionals that acknowledge the significance of leisure and recreation as integral components of optimal health and well-being of individuals with illnesses and disabling conditions. The goals of our services is to use recreation and leisure to improve function and create optimal health and well-being for individuals with illness or disability. These services are provided in group or individual programming based on their interests and capabilities.

It has been documented that people involved in therapeutic recreation in a clinical setting heal faster, adjust better to their illness/injury/disabling condition, have improved motor and cognitive function, and reintegrate into their community more readily.

Recreation Therapy services are provided primarily on Orthopedic and specialty Geriatric Units.
