Northern Alberta Continence Services (NACS) Clinic
The NACS clinic is a nurse led program providing conservative care and treatment for female patients with incontinence, prolapse and pelvic floor dysfunction. The clinic serves the Edmonton Zone, as well as the northern and central zones of Alberta.
Services include:
- Education: new patients are assessed in the clinic and receive education during the appointment
- Conservative management: following a new patient assessment, treatment options and therapies are discussed with the patient. These may include modifications to diet, activities and exercise.
- Pessary fitting: RNs assess and fit women for vaginal pessaries to assist with prolapse and continence issues
- Uro-flow & bladder scanning: these non-invasive tests are completed in the clinic to provide information as part of a new patient assessment
Patients require a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner to access the clinic services. As this is a specialty clinic, patients can expect to be discharged back to their referring provider or primary care physician.
