Diabetes Education Centre
The Diabetes Education Centre is one of five clinics that make up the Edmonton Regional Diabetes Program. The clinic offers education and support for people with pre-diabetes and diabetes, including patients with gestational diabetes.
Services include:
- Education: new patients are assessed in the clinic and receive education
- Diabetes assessment and management: following a new patient assessment, a treatment plan and therapies are discussed with the patient. These may include modifications to diet, activities and exercise.
- Insulin start
- In-person or telephone follow-up
- Community services and classes are also available for patients and their friends and family.
Referrals
Patients require a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner to the Edmonton Regional Diabetes Program. As this is a specialty clinic, patients can expect to be discharged back to their referring provider or primary care physician.
All referrals are to be made to Regional Diabetes Program Edmonton Zone Central Access at 780.401.BOOK (2665).
