Spiritual Care
Our part-time chaplain offers a compassionate presence while providing emotional and spiritual care and counsel. The chaplain promotes wholeness and the well-being of patients, residents, families, and staff. The chaplain honours all persons and is respectful of their unique journeys and the health, cultural, philosophical, religious and spiritual traditions. As an integrated member of the care team, our chaplain provides spiritual leadership across Covenant Health sites.
The chaplain offers support with:
- End-of-life ceremonies or decision making
- Crisis situations
- Conversations that explore meaning and purpose in life
- Grief and loss
- Support for families and friends impacted by a loved one's illness or death
- Exploring ethical concerns of patients, residents, and staff
The chaplain can offer:
- Religious worship services
- Spiritual and religious care (one-to-one visits, prayers, requests for communion/sacraments or visits from various faith leaders)
- A supportive relational presence during times of stress and vulnerability
- Resources for memorial/funeral service planning
- Respect and honour for all religious traditions and faiths, including links to community faith groups and leaders
- Semi-annual memorial services
Chapel Services
Ukrainian Catholic Divine Liturgy: Wednesdays, 3:45 p.m. (weekly)
Ecumenical Service: 2nd or 3rd Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. (once a month)
Evening Prayer: Thursdays, 6:15 p.m. (weekly)
Roman Catholic Mass: Last Friday of each month, 10:00 a.m. (once a month)
Ukrainian Orthodox Service: Tuesday, 10:00 a.m. (once every 3 months)
