Spiritual care
Covenant Health chaplains offer a compassionate presence while providing emotional and spiritual care. They promote wholeness and the well-being of patients, residents, families and staff. Chaplains honour all persons, respecting their unique journeys and the interweaving of health, cultural, philosophical, religious and spiritual traditions. Chaplains are integrated members of the health care team and provide spiritual leadership across Covenant Health sites.
Chaplains can assist in:
• End-of-life support, ceremony or decision-making
• Crisis situations
• Conversations that explore meaning and purpose in life
• Grief and loss
• Support for families and friends who are impacted by a loved one’s illness or death
• Exploring ethical concerns facing patients, residents and staff
The Banff Mineral Springs Hospital chaplain also ensures the weekly Friday morning chapel services are conducted, drawing upon the clergy and other volunteer resources from the Banff community.
Part of a chaplain's work is to ensure the Values and Mission of Covenant Health are at the forefront of all we do in serving the people who need our help. These Values are:
- Compassion
- Respect
- Collaboration
- Social Justice
- Integrity
- Stewardship
