For Experienced Practitioners
If you are currently working as a nurse another healthcare facility, you may be eligible for portability of certain entitlements.
Recognition of Previous Experience
Upon commencement, and provision of job relevant documentation from your previous employer, consideration may be given for purposes of initial placement on the salary scale, and crediting of hours worked towards the next salary increment (subject to provisions of applicable collective agreement).
Please provide any relevant information to your site Human Resources department for consideration.
Portability
Within Covenant Health, the AUPE, HSAA, and UNA collective agreements contain provisions for portability of certain entitlements between employers. The primary intent of the language is to allow a new employee (who is terminating their previous employment) to "port" entitlements such as outstanding sick accrual and/or vacation entitlement date to the new employer.
Upon receipt of an offer of employment from Covenant Health, please provide documentation from your previous employer in order for your level of eligibility to be determined. This documentation should include the following information:
- Dates of Employment
- Employment Status - full-time, part-time, or casual
- Job Title/Classification Held
- Total Number of Hours Worked for Each Position
*Please note: This information is provided as a guide only, and does not guarantee portability of any entitlements. For detailed information regarding your eligibility based on an offer of employment, please contact the Covenant Health Human Resources office at the site your offer has been made.
